KAROLE ARMITAGE
MORTON FELDMAN
DAVID SALLE
- Choreographer Karole Armitage and artist David Salle take on Morton Feldman’s “vast, quiet, agonizingly beautiful worlds of sound” (The New Yorker) in the World Premiere of Connoisseurs of Chaos.
- Feldman’s mesmerizing Patterns in a Chromatic Field provides a stunning aural setting for Armitage’s captivating new work. Within the twisted shapes , jagged angles and disparate phrases of her dance, Armitage reveals an uncommon beauty – sinuous and sensuous.
- Cellist Felix Fan and pianist Andrew Russo, two acclaimed interpreters of contemporary music, perform Feldman’s monumental score live
- With renowned designers -- Peter Speliopoulos (costumes) and Clifton Taylor (lighting) – Armitage and Salle create a not-to-be missed sensory experience with projections of slowly moving vortexes, dreaming dancers and the occasional glimpse of everyday objects.

“An artist with an intriguingly restless imagination”
The New York Times
“Fiercely pure…Armitage follows a path cleared by George Balanchine in his 1957 Agon, expanding the range of dancers’ highly articulated limbs. She presents the performers as molten steel cooling into stunning shapes, yet reminds us that they’re not just clones of a technique but individuals with minds, moods, and imperfections of their own.”
The Village Voice
Armitage “Pushes classicism’s boundaries way into the stratosphere.”
